Good morning fellow quilters!! It is a beautiful fall morning here in Texas - we don't get color until November, but I am absolutely LOVING the crisp morning air!!
I have had Lori's Mountain Trail SAL flimsy done for a couple of weeks, but haven't had time to quilt it - I originally was going to hand quilt it, but am thinking about simple diagonal machine quilting. I have so enjoyed seeing everyone's version! Such creative and inspiring quilter's you are!!!
Just a little note of interest - more just because I wanted to know. Not counting the red pieces in the quilt, there were 200 other pieces. For those, I used 93 different fabrics!!! It was fun for me to dig in my little shoes box and pull out favorite fabrics that wouldn't have been used any where else! Thanks Lori for this little project! I'm so glad I joined in!!
Happy Fall Ya'll!!!!!

Don't you love giving a special home to little bits of fabric you have loved and almost used up?
Your Mountain Trail is beautiful, Doniene. The contrast of your red--now that's what I'm talking about!! : )
Good to hear from you again. I had actually just thought it had been a while and looked up your blog to see if possibly I had missed a post (blogger does that sometimes) and there it was--a new post! Hooray!
I joined in with this project too and feel the same way about using those little scraps that have been hoarded for so long. They were just waiting for the right project to come along. Who would have thought such beautiful quilts were hidden amongst all those scraps?
Really really nice Doniene! I love the red strip of blocks running diagonally through it! And scrappy logs - YUM!!!
It looks wonderful! I didn't count and I used more of certain fabrics than I wish I would have, but I did use a few "special" favorites. I think one of my favorites is all gone now - Boo Hoo!
It's perfect! Love the red striped fabric!
I love your little quilt! I want to make one too, now that I have a few WIP finished. I think machine or hand quilted it will look special either way, happy quilting Sue SA.
Oh it looks so good!! The red in it is stunning - I NEED to make one now!!
Beautiful! Ya done good!
Beautiful! You know how I feel about vintage-looking and traditional quilts. This is absolutely stunning and you did a great job! Can't wait to see it quilted!
Absolutely beautiful!!
Just beautiful! I surely love Lori's QALs because they use up all these little pieces of fabrics.
Lovely Mountain Trail... great way to use up favorite scraps of fabric! Wishing I would have participated, but this will be on my "to do" list. I like your idea of diagonal machine quilting... simplicity at it's best with all those pieces!
a very cute little flimsy from this fun quilt-along~!
i agree, it's so much fun (and satisfying too) to use up those tiny scraps that are sort of at the end of the scrappy "food chain".
i wish that i had used a bigger variety in mine though. i like yours (with less repeats) better.

Your Mountain Trails is beautiful - I really like the red you used. I didn't count my fabrics - I couldn't believe how many fabrics are used.....and not even a little dent in my scraps!
Very beautiful, great use of scraps !
Gorgeous! Love the variety of scraps you used!
Simply gorgeous and the perfect pattern for putting all of those very loved scraps into a quilt that will be loved. I am sure they are thankful to be out of that shoe box and out where they can be admired! :) Did you notice a decrease in your scraps? I have never heard of that happening. :)
It's looking GREAT and what a fun way to use up all those scraps!! i really had a lot of fun with this quilt-a-long :))
cheers...Marian
How did I miss this! Love the solid red and all the scraps! Great job!
I saw Janet's finished up version of this and was inspired to make plans for one of my own. Your red really pops -- lovin' it! :)
