Doll Quilts and a New Apron!

A few more "small" finishes - though every finish is a "BIG" deal - don't you think!!! Finishing things, accomplishing things is good for the morale!!! So I like to have a few "small" things going - therefore I get a "FINISH"!!! LOL

For the girl's booth at their next craft show, I made 4 doll quilts - fun traditional blocks and settings - perfect for a 20" doll like the American Dolls that are a rage right now. All of these were made from remnants and scraps - even the batting. I mostly just straight line cross hatched, but on the setting blocks for a couple of the quilts I did do some fmq - fun simple designs that added a little to the quilt.

Now to the apron. A couple of Christmases ago, I made aprons and potholders for all the girls for their gifts. I bought ducking fabric in several different colors/designs, so I had extra. I finally got around to making me one - I really needed it - my other was looking rather "natty"!!! But I do have a disclaimer - I don't wear an apron to keep my clothes clean - I wear and apron so my "dirty clothes" don't get the food dirty!!! LOL!! Mike says that he has never seen someone that can get as dirty as me!! But when you feed baby goats and handle baby calves and ride horse and train dogs - well a girl just gets dirty!!!!

I really like the bold fall colors and the striped fabric - makes working in the kitchen fun!!

There is much sad news in the world - but be of good cheer - God is still on the Throne!!

Love the FMQing on your darling doll quilts! You're raising the bar on me, girl friend! :D

Great apron... I am a messy cook and definitely need to wear one!

I love the small quilts! The apron is a great problem-solver, too. I wear an apron when I cook NOT because I'm a messy cook, but so that I can "forget" to take it off because I AM a messy eater. I really like your JOY emblem at the end of the post, too.

Those little doll quilts are so sweet! And just the right amount of quilting, too! And yeah.....I'm with you on the finishes thing.....I think I need to get more doll quilts in the line-up, so I can have more finishes, too! You're so smart! :o)

And I love that apron set. I have a big chunk of ticking that might be perfect for that! Hmmmmmm! Thanks for the inspiration!

Such sweet little doll quilts they will make some little girls very happy. An apron works no matter what you need it for.

Your doll quilts are very pretty!
I always wear an apron when preparing dinner or baking and when I have my 3,5 y o granddaughter with me she has her own apron. She is very keen on wearing it, looking like Oma, helping in the kitchen. It's hanging on the inside of the cellar door, on the hook beside 'Oma's', waiting for Loni Marije to come over again.
Lieve groetjes,

Jeanneke.

I love your reason for wearing an apron!!! That's awesome :)
I also love the little flower pattern you did in the center of the blocks in the larger of the two blue doll quilts. I'll have to keep that in mind for if/when I ever delve deeper into FMQ!

Those little quilts are just darling! So cute, and I guess they did well in your girls' booth.

Lovely apron! Love the idea of using an apron to keep the food clean ;-)

Hugs and stitches :-)

I'd have a hard time choosing which doll quilt to buy! Good luck to your daughters. I did a few craft shows many years ago and it was a lot of fun.
Love how you switched the stripe for the pocket of your apron. Funny how you use an apron to cover your dirty clothes!

Hi Doniene, Love this post-the miniature quilts are darling and I'm sure will make someone smile! Love the fall apron-how fun is that. I've got to get to quilting right now-the border is taking longer than I thought. Have a great weekend my friend.
Hugs today.

Love your doll quilts, just think of the years of JOY they will bring some lucky little girls. I think some big girls will be loving them too.
Great apron, I can totally imagine what a baby goat can get up to!
Thanks for the fun post.

I love the apron. I find I wear aprons much more frequently now that I am retired and casual 99.99% of the time!

Your little quilts are fantastic! it is so fun to have finishes, even if they are small.
Love the apron- I wear one but that's because I'm a sloppy cook!

I was just browsing a little and found this post that I had missed while I was traveling last month. What sweet little quilts, Doniene. I don't have an American Girl Doll, and I'd buy one!
Oh, you are so cute about why you wear an apron. I wear aprons when I cook for the same reason Lori mentioned--I'm a messy cook. That is a very fun apron you have made yourself to protect your food from the dirt on your clothes! : )
