Catching up!

I hope that all of you enjoyed a fabulous holiday season! Ours was busy, but oh so very enjoyable. As I mentioned in my last post, I was furiously stitching away on Christmas gifts, and I will post about some of them later. In addition to sewing, there were all the other activities that go with Christmas, and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment! But alas, a couple of things got dropped - again, no Christmas cards were sent from this house and I didn't blog very much!! But here's a recap of some of the events in my life!

My birthday is the first part of  December, and I had some especially special gifts this year - my kids are awesome! This little quilt was made by Mandie!! So special - scraps from a quilt that I had made from my dad's wool shirts!! She machine appliqued it - but she hand quilted it!

Rygh and Lyn gave me a quilting book and a charm pack of wools!!! I LOVE them and am planning on trying my hand at a wool applique project later in the year. Any suggestions?

I received several other super great gifts, just not quilty so not sharing them here.save one. On December 14th, Mikkie took me to Austin for dinner and a performance of "The Nutcracker" at Ballet Austin. It was FABULOUS!!!! The orchestra was wonderful, the set gorgeous, the dancers superb! No one else in the family are Classical fans, so it was a very special Mother/Daughter time!

On December 17, I hosted our guild's Christmas party! Sixteen of the group came and a great time was had by all!!! Go here if you want to take a peek at the fun!

Then on the 19th Mike and I traveled to Old Glory, Texas to spend a little time with Mike's cousin and his wife. We then went to the Anson Cowboy Christmas Ball which has been an event since 1885 except for a year a two during WWII. It is always so much fun, and we always enjoy our time with family!

All the kids were here on Christmas Eve, and we had such a pleasant time - great food, great fellowship and a plethora of super nice gifts! Most of all it was so fun to watch Gracen play with the boxes, wrapping paper and the old toys out of her basket at Nene's house!!! Here she is with her Aunt Mollie!

Hope this finds each of you enjoying a blessed beginning of a new year!

Sounds like you had a wonderful holiday. I saw one of our local colleges perform the Nutcracker years ago, and I just loved it. I've never done will appliqué. I know you will have fun with it. Happy New Year!

Doniene, your month of December was filled with lots of fun things, wasn't it? I try to get to the Nutcracker ballet at least every other year! Isn't is marvelous?! Glad you got to enjoy it! Your quilty gifts were quite fun. I've never seen a charm pack of wools before . . . something to scout out!! I adore your boots -- did you do some 'boot scootin' boogy'??! Happy New Year to you!!! :

What a special little quilt. I love the fact that it is made from scraps of your Dad's shirts.
Looks like a wonderful wool charm pack. Primitive Gatherings has so many fun wool applique patterns.
The Cowboy Ball sounds like a fun event, with a long history.
What a nice thing to have all of your family together for Christmas. Looks like a perfect holiday.

What a wonderful December you had. We used to go to the Nutcracker almost every year. I don't think we went in Austin, though, when we lived at Fort Hood. The quilt from your daughter is so special. Happy New Year!

what a fun post! December was fun-filled for you! The little quilt Mandie made you is precious! Enjoyed looking at the photos from your guild's Christmas party. You do have a beautiful home. Looks like a fun group. I like the smaller size. My guild has over 100 members. Those pincushions are a hoot! Happy new year!

I've mostly been unplugged and I feel as if I've missed so much! :) You've been busy my friend, but it sounds as if you've been greatly blessed as well! I love Mandie's quilt she made for you - stitched with love and treasured memories - it doesn't get much better than that! What a wonderful picture of Gracen and Mollie - 2 beautiful girls - one is growing up too fast but I'm betting the other one did too! :) You and Mike look right spiffy in your Cowboy Ball finery! So fun to spend a night kicking up your heels. Wishing you many blessings in the coming year and looking forward to catching up with you next time I fly through town.
